# Pedestrian asset attribution and provenance

Modifications: converted FBX to GLB; downsampled scanned diffuse and normal maps to 1024 × 1024 JPEG; simplified geometry for near/distant pedestrian display; removed root travel and initial setup poses; extracted and smoothed a repeating walking cycle; transferred Nathan's walk to Sophia's corresponding skeleton. No identity or clothing redesign.

## License verification

The official Sketchfab model API returned **CC Attribution**, with license URL `http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/`, for both models on 2026-09-06. The complete API responses are preserved as `nathan-sketchfab.json` and `sophia-sketchfab.json`. Both entries identify Renderpeople as author, mark the assets downloadable, and state commercial use is allowed with author credit.

The FBX originals of these same named free models were downloaded from the author's public free sample pack:

- Download page: https://renderpeople.com/free-3d-people/
- Direct archive: https://renderpeople.com/sample/free/renderpeople_free_animated_people_FBX.zip

The author's general website terms are a separate, more restrictive license; the attribution above relies on the explicit CC BY 4.0 grant for these named models on Renderpeople's official Sketchfab publications. Do not generalize the CC license to other models in the author's catalog or the unrelated Manuel model contained in the original archive.

## Runtime files

- `nathan-walk.glb`: 19,354 triangles, one skinned mesh/material, 88 bones.
- `sophia-walk.glb`: 16,475 triangles, one skinned mesh/material, 88 bones.
- `nathan-walk-lod.glb`: 4,499 triangles, matching skeleton/animation.
- `sophia-walk-lod.glb`: 4,500 triangles, matching skeleton/animation.

All four assets contain one animation named **walk**, duration **1.133333 seconds**. The source cycle is frames 19–53 at 30 fps. Last/first poses match after a three-sample closure blend. The walking animation is in place. Coordinates are meters, +Y up, **+Z forward**. The feet stay within about -1.6 cm to +0.4 cm of ground through the cycle; a model container elevation of 0.015 m avoids slight ground penetration. Height is approximately 1.87 m for Nathan and 1.72 m for Sophia. Suggested initial path speed is 1.28 m/s for Nathan and about 1.16 m/s for Sophia at mixer speed 1.0; vary mixer speed with path speed.

Each GLB embeds 1K color and 1K normal JPEG maps. No Draco decoder or extra loader extension is required. Native glTF loading uses `GLTFLoader`; clone skinned scenes with `SkeletonUtils.clone`. Use independent AnimationMixers per pedestrian when differing animation phases are desired.

- Original texture maps are in each model's `tex` subdirectory.
- `nathan-reference.jpeg`, `sophia-reference.jpeg`: official Sketchfab reference thumbnails, inspected for visual selection.
- `pedestrians-preview-01.png`, `pedestrians-preview-10.png`, `pedestrians-preview-19.png`, `pedestrians-preview-27.png`: final GLB reimported into Blender and rendered at different cycle frames for verification.

Do not serve the large original FBX archives or processing scripts from the live Site. Runtime integration needs only the selected GLBs and attribution.

## Stationary waiting variant

`sophia-idle.glb` (16,475 triangles, 1.13 MiB) and `sophia-idle-lod.glb` (4,500 triangles, 0.73 MiB) contain the original Sophia idle motion from source frames 270–390, adapted into a four-second repeating clip named **idle**. The same CC BY 4.0 attribution above applies.

The original fragment had less than 7 mm of foot movement. For narrow platform waiting, the pelvis and leg pose are held at the fragment's initial pose while preserving the original upper-body, head, and arm motion. The final half second eases back to the initial upper-body pose. The first and last values of all exported channels are identical; root movement is zero. The character is centered between the feet and grounded at Y = 0, so no additional elevation is required for this idle variant.

The skeleton names, 88 joints, meter units, +Y up, +Z forward, material, and embedded 1K textures match the walking variant. Rendered previews are `sophia-idle-preview-001.png` and `sophia-idle-preview-061.png`; numeric checks are in `idle-verification.json` and `idle-foot-verification.json`.

## Aerial walking poses · v16

`far/nathan-far-poses.glb` and `far/sophia-far-poses.glb` are further derivatives of the same Renderpeople CC BY 4.0 scans. Each contains eight source walk poses at 600 triangles, one shared 512px color image, and the original meter scale. Normal maps and rigs are omitted for distant instancing. Source phase times, geometry hashes and bounds accompany the files. No new identity or clothing was generated.
